Day 22: Adventure Time
Was there an adventure you planned and went on in 2012? What was it? Who did you go with? What did you do?
On June 9, 2012 I went on a DC adventure with my good friends Henry and Kenisha. We met at the Mall, and walked around to all of the different monuments. Of course we saw the classics, like the Lincoln Memorial and the different war memorials. We were even able to take a picture with good ol’ Honest Abe, and be all touristy. 🙂 We even got to go see the MLK Jr. Memorial, which I had not yet seen. I loved it. I actually was surprised because it was smaller and a little more hidden than I realized, but it was really nice. There were great quotes at that memorial, like the one shown here, that I think still applies to us all today.
After we got tired from all the walking around (I still don’t know how Kenisha walked around DC with her high wedges!) we walked over to La Tasca in Chinatown to grab some dinner. Well wouldn’t ya know, there was a special $35 all you can eat/drink promotion that was running, and you know that we were all about that! We kept the tapas coming, and kept the Sangria flowing. It was a lovely meal, that didn’t even hurt our pockets too too much. 🙂
Overall, it was a great way to spend a nice summer day. I was able to spend time with two of my good friends, explore DC, eat great food, and have stimulating conversations. I’d say that it was an adventure well executed. And I’m hoping before I move out of College Park for good, that I’ll get another opportunity to have a DC adventure again really soon!
