Fulfilling Wanderlust: 2012 Edition

Day 7: Leaving on a Jetplane

Did you take a particularly amazing vacation this year? Where did you go? What did you see? How did you get there? How did you document it? And if you didn’t travel anywhere spectacular, describe your dream vacation.

Back in May 2012, I went to Phoenix, AZ with my best friend Danielle for the International Communication Association annual conference. I love academic conferences. It’s a fun way to visit cool places and get to nerd out in sessions all in one trip! Clearly I am meant for academia if I’m excited about these sort of things, haha.

Anyway, there wasn’t much within walking distance from our hotel, but Danielle and I managed to find a couple of great places in terms of food.

We went to Sam’s Cafe probably three times during the trip for dinner…excellent food, great service, and apparently they have some of the best margaritas in town. 🙂

Sams CafeThen, knowing my love for Triple D places, Danielle and I went to Matt’s Big Breakfast and had amazing food for brunch. It was totally worth the wait! Plus, I just had to take a picture with Guy Fieri painted on the wall!

Matts Big BreakfastFinally, the highlight of the trip was being able to go see the Grand Canyon. This was definitely on my bucket list in terms of traveling, and boy, was it Ah-may-zing.

Grand CanyonAll in all, I had a great time on this mini-academic vacation with my best friend. I’m looking forward to future conferences, and can’t wait to see where I will be traveling to in the near future!
