Body/Mind Integration: Not Quite There Yet

December 12 – Body Integration. This year, when did you feel the most integrated with your body? Did you have a moment where there wasn’t mind and body, but simply a cohesive YOU, alive and present?

I felt the most integrated with my body this year when I was in Thailand, getting my Thai-style massage. I must say that it was the most relaxing, feel-good experience I have ever had in my young life. However, I was still thinking hard about things the whole time (I’m not very good at relaxing my mind), so I can’t say that I was a full, cohesive me at that moment.

I am still searching for that intense out-of-body calming experience where I feel whole and alive – I wanted to take meditation classes at UMD this semester, but they conflicted with my class schedule. I think that someday I will get to that experience – but first, I need to find the time to get there, and secondly, I need to be completely comfortable with myself to do it. So it will probably be awhile, but I am waiting in eager anticipation.
